Hydroponic Systems

Hydroponic systems, no matter what size they are, are especially good at using the maximum amount of space possible for growing plants. This allows them to get to larger sizes in smaller areas than they normally would. That makes their yields much higher, whether they are flowers or vegetables.

Hydroponic systems actually conserve water more than traditional soil farming. Less water evaporates and more is taken up by the plants, which also prevents it from evaporating. There is no water lost to the ground either, all water is constantly recycled and flowing, no drainage ever occurs, except when flushing the system, which is especially important in areas with high amounts of minerals in the water supply.

Hydroponic systems can be set up very easily, or can be very elaborate and automated. The more automated the system is the larger the hydroponic garden can be. Automated sensors include pH sensors, nutrient sensors that automatically add nutrients when they are low and timers for lights if they are used. Once the pump is going there is very little maintenance and work that has to be done besides adding nutrients.
