Hydroponic kits make it easy to get growing right away. The kits come with everything needed to start a small crop. Using only water and a growing medium, plants are in a controlled environment so the grower can regulate what is given and absorbed by the plants.
Most kits come with a base reservoir in which the nutrient solution is placed. An air pump will be included to supply the roots with the oxygen needed. A bubbling air pump works best to oxygenate the water. The kit will also contain net pots or some other container for the plant to sit in the base reservoir.
Growing mediums are also generally included rock wool is good for seedlings and a gravel designed to be pH neutral works for larger plants. Kits will contain instructions on setup and some grow tips but normally the nutrient solution will have to be purchased separately. Other items not included but recommended are pH testing kits, thermometers and of course lighting.
