Before
any greenhouse parts are chosen, the design of the greenhouse should
be complete. Whether it is going to made from wood, metal, or PVC and
topped with glass, fiberglass, or plastic panels should all be decided
because there are special ways and pieces that are different for each
type of material.
If a wooden frame is going to be built, greenhouse parts will include
nails or screws, wood finish and sealant, hinges and a way to connect
the covering. Glass requires a strong frame and special sealants to
adhere to wood. Many people put metal supports for the glass that are
screwed into the wood. The glass is set into the support and sealed
with silicone or similar glues.
Metal frames require completely different greenhouse parts. Many metal
greenhouses come in kits and can be assembled with a wrench or two and
a screwdriver. They can also be constructed from pipe materials very
easily. A metal frame is much more durable than wood or PVC, but special
connections have to be put in place if glass is being used so it does
not contact the metal and break.
