Greenhouse
fans are used to create humidity inside the structure or as exhaust
fans to draw out stale, hot air. Humidity fans can be hanging or on
wheels and stands, mounts, meters or timers are considered accessories.
In drier climes, extra humidity is crucial to successful growing.
Greenhouse fans used for exhaust are usually in a fixed location and
are used to stimulate ventilation. The exhaust fan draws out the hot,
stale air, and circulates the remaining air to cool off the interior.
You’ll also need an intake shutter or two (for structures more
than 10 feet wide) to complete the ventilation process.
Some online resources offer a greenhouse fans calculator. Based on the
dimensions you’re working with, the calculator can tell you exactly
how big of an exhaust fan is needed and how many accompanying intake
vents are ideal. This depends on the size, length, width, and height
of the greenhouse.
