Every gardener has their own unique tips for working in a greenhouse. From how, what, and when to plant, to the “key” to raising the perfect tomatoes; the suggestions can be endless. There are some basic ideas, however, that are common to nearly ever greenhouse garden.
A greenhouse should get the maximum amount of sunlight possible during fall and winter months; which is why one of the most basic tips for working in a greenhouse is first building it in the right spot. As a general rule, you do not want anything blocking the south side of the structure. From a proper location you should be able to face south and look from east to west without any obstructions.
Another of the more common tips for working in a greenhouse is proper ventilation. It is true that plants require warm temperatures for growth; however, a greenhouse can often become too hot, which is why ventilation is so important. Being able to maintain an optimal growing temperature will have a positive impact on the overall capabilities of your greenhouse.
