Greenhouse Lights

Greenhouse lights are a great option for extending the growing season for plants. It does this by providing them with a sunlight equivalent when no sunlight is available. One of the benefits of this is the potential to have seasonal yields happening year-round. Another is the option is simply getting an early start before the yearly cessation of frost.

The most efficient greenhouse lights (for the consumer) are known as HIDs. This acronym stands for High Intensity Discharge. They come in two types: Metal Halide (MH), and High Pressure Sodium (HPS).

These HID greenhouse lights types each produce light on different ends of the spectrum. MH options fit more to the blue spectrum, while HPS ones work with orange-red. The former is more ideal for promoting green and leafy plant growth as well as keeping plants compact. The latter is better suited for budding and flowering.
